Michael’s sealed Apple II copy

INFOCOM · 1984
Seastalker
It asks your name before anything else happens, and then the crew of the Scimitar spends the rest of the game using it. That is the whole trick, and in 1984 it was enormous: you were not steering a character, you were the young inventor being radioed for help by an underwater laboratory with something outside its windows. Galley and Lawrence wrote Infocom’s junior-level story without softening the machinery underneath—there is a saboteur among the crew, and the sonar puzzle simply expects the paper chart to be lying on the desk beside you.
THE ARCHIVE DRAWER
The world beyond the box.
Front and back photographs document Michael’s sealed Apple II copy—including its original store sticker and the beautifully imperfect shrink-wrap that kept this world unopened. Historical materials remain with the preservation projects that made them available.
